The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, announced that the Federal Government has approved over N350 billion through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund to enhance dams and expand irrigation facilities across Nigeria.
Bagudu highlighted the increasing threat of flooding, calling it a global challenge, and referenced the significant impacts in states like Borno. “Climate change is real, but fortunately, President Ahmed Bola-Tinubu recognized the issue and took proactive steps by allocating funds to states,” he said.
He revealed that the federal government has allocated N3 billion to each state to help mitigate the effects of flooding. Specifically, Kebbi State, under the leadership of Governor Nasiru Idris, has received its share. Additionally, the Federal Executive Council has approved N900 billion for the Kebbi segment of the Sokoto-Badagry Highway.
Bagudu further noted that approval has been given for the construction of the Zaria Kala-Kala Road in Koko/Besse Local Government.
“Kebbi is fortunate to benefit from numerous infrastructural projects and interventions in areas such as agriculture, animal husbandry, healthcare, and education, which will complement ongoing development in the state,” Bagudu said.
He also praised Governor Idris for his efforts in improving the living conditions of the people and for his swift response in aiding flood-affected communities. Furthermore, he commended the governor for encouraging farmers to continue cultivating crops, promoting self-sufficiency in food production.
