At the Annual Conference of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in Abuja, UBA Chairman Tony Elumelu urged President Bola Tinubu to make security a top priority in order to address food shortages and attract investments.
“To safeguard our citizens, ensure food security, attract investments, and promote trade, we must place security at the forefront. Insecurity has become a national crisis that requires immediate and decisive action. Our people deserve the freedom to farm, live in peace, and conduct their businesses without fear—this is a fundamental right of every citizen,” Elumelu stated.
In his address to the conference, President Tinubu stressed the need for capacity building, talent development, and youth empowerment as critical drivers of economic growth.
“We are dedicated to achieving 70 per cent digital literacy by 2027 through collaboration and innovation. Our focus must be on building capacity, nurturing talent, and empowering youth. These are the hands that will shape our future, and we must equip them with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities necessary to propel our nation forward,” Tinubu’s message conveyed, as delivered by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
