The Federal Government, in partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has empowered over 3,500 youths in agriculture in Ondo State through the Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises-Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) project. The initiative has invested nearly $7 million to provide necessary support for the beneficiaries.
Dr. Abiodun Sanni, the National Project Coordinator for FG IFAD/LIFE-ND, highlighted that the project began in 2019 with the goal of training and empowering about 4,250 youths in agriculture over six years. The recent inspection in Osi Community, Akure North Local Government Area, aimed to assess progress and identify areas for improvement. Dr. Sanni expressed satisfaction with the project’s impact, noting that the youths have shown significant capacity and potential to contribute to food security and the rural economy of Ondo State and the broader Niger Delta region.
