The African Chapter of the Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) was inaugurated in Abuja, aiming to enhance value addition in farming and advocate for the interests of planters. According to Senator Abubakar Kyari, Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, this milestone signifies progress not only for Nigeria but for the entire African continent. He emphasized the importance of sustainable agricultural practices for economic growth and food security. Richard-Mark Mbaram, the Embed Advisor at the African Development Bank (AfDB), highlighted the alignment between the ISP Africa Chapter’s objectives and the AfDB’s goals, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and innovation in agriculture. Dr. Shermal Perera, Chairman of the ISP African Chapter, emphasized the focus on educating and training farmers to enhance production and income. Fatai Afolabi, Proterm Vice Chairman of ISP Africa, stressed the need for capacity building to improve productivity across the continent’s agricultural sector.
