Funso Akinwunmi, an Information and Communication Technology expert based in the United Kingdom, foresees agriculture and real estate emerging as Nigeria’s primary revenue sources and employment generators. Speaking during an inspection of land preparation for a significant plantain and cassava farm project at Pelican’s Greenish Acre Farm Estate in Ogun State, Akinwunmi emphasized the need for governments and private sector players to leverage the immense potential of these sectors to revitalize the economy, address housing and food challenges, and propel national development. Impressed by the initiative led by the CEO of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, Akinwunmi urged support for initiatives like this to boost food productivity, enhance food security, and stimulate local industries. He called on the state government and Nigerians abroad to back efforts aimed at tackling food security and housing deficits in Nigeria. Akinwunmi highlighted the importance of policies and investments in agriculture and real estate, suggesting they could surpass oil earnings and create numerous job opportunities in the future. He commended the global outlook of investors like Dr. Babatunde Adeyemo and encouraged Nigerians in the diaspora to participate in such initiatives, emphasizing the significance of partnerships in driving development. Adeyemo, in turn, expressed admiration for Akinwunmi’s contributions to ICT knowledge transfer and affirmed his commitment to providing satisfaction to clients, including those abroad, through valuable partnerships with projects like Pelican Valley.
