Nehemiah Jacob used to see waste as just garbage until he got involved with the Foundation for a Better Environment (FABE). Now, he sees it as a way to make money. Nigeria produces a lot of trash, mostly plastics, but not much of it gets managed properly. Lagos alone makes around 14,000 tonnes of garbage every day, with a fifth of it being plastic. Most of it ends up in illegal dumps or in the streets, causing pollution and other problems. Mrs. Temitope Okunnu was troubled by this and started FABE International to teach people to care for the environment. Their main focus is on schools, aiming to change how people think about waste.
