Honorable Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, the Governor of Bauchi State, has announced that the state government has meticulously implemented various measures to modernize and rebrand the veterinary clinics and abattoirs throughout the region. This progressive initiative aims to substantially enhance the overall value and significance of the state and its inhabitants in terms of food production and food security.
During the inauguration of the steering committee for the Bauchi State Committee on the World Bank-assisted project, Livelihood and Resilience Support (L-PRES), Governor Bala Mohammed elaborated on the project’s objectives. The L-PRES project is designed to bolster livestock production efficiency, foster income generation opportunities for the local populace, and significantly decrease poverty rates among the residents.
In addition, the Governor emphasized that these transformations are being implemented to attract investors, donor agencies, and international development partners, both domestically and abroad. To further support the project’s success, a modern veterinary clinic will be constructed on Ran Road, as land has already been acquired for this purpose. The government is fully committed to rehabilitating all abattoirs across the state, ensuring the project’s comprehensive implementation for the benefit of the people.
Furthermore, Governor Bala Mohammed highlighted that this initiative aligns with his administration’s agricultural framework and urged the committee members to uphold the trust placed in them. Expressing gratitude towards the World Bank and the Federal Government for selecting Bauchi State for these projects, the governor assured his unwavering support to ensure the peaceful execution of the initiatives.
Prof. Simon Madugu Yalams, the Chairman of the Committee and also the Commissioner of Agriculture in Bauchi State, acknowledged Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s vision and dedication to transforming the state’s agricultural sector. He noted that the state government has made significant strides in transitioning the agricultural sector from a traditional way of life to a profitable business that will enhance the income-generating capacity of numerous farming families in the region. The committee comprises esteemed members, such as the State Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination, Aminu Hammayo; the Governor’s Principal Private Secretary, Pharmacist Samaila Adamu Burga; Commissioner of Finance, Dr Yakubu Adamu; and other representatives from the State and Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
