Premium Cocoa Products Ile-Oluji, a cocoa processing factory with an annual capacity of 30,000 metric tonnes, has taken a significant step towards transitioning into a fully gas-powered operation, emphasizing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
Sunday Bamikole, the managing director of the company, revealed this in a statement released to journalists on Friday in Akure, the capital of Ondo state. He stated, “This strategic shift demonstrates Premium Cocoa Products Ile-Oluji’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.”
Bamikole highlighted that gas presents a cleaner burning alternative to traditional fuels, resulting in lower emissions and a reduced carbon footprint for Premium Cocoa Products Ile-Oluji. He added, “By embracing gas-powered operations, we aim to contribute to a more sustainable social and economic landscape.”
“We are currently in the midst of a significant transition. The shift to gas-powered operations at Premium Cocoa Products Ile-Oluji offers a dual advantage. It will not only enhance the efficiency of our operations but also significantly increase our carbon credits.
We believe that this transition will not only benefit the environment but also our community and the future of the cocoa industry.
“We are committed to implementing sustainable sourcing practices across our supply chain. This ensures that our cocoa beans do not contribute to deforestation, thereby safeguarding crucial rainforests and the delicate ecosystems that support cocoa cultivation. We understand the vital role these ecosystems play and are dedicated to preserving them for future generations.
“Premium Cocoa Products (Ile-Oluji) Limited remains steadfast in our commitment to delivering high-quality cocoa products while prioritizing the environment and the well-being of all our stakeholders.”
