Within the scope of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s initiative, Grain from Ukraine, the country has already shipped over 200,000 tonnes of food supplies to African countries.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, seven vessels have transported more than 195,000 tonnes of grain and 7,600 tonnes of flour to Somalia, Ethiopia, Yemen, and Nigeria. Additionally, 25,000 tonnes of grain have been sent to Kenya.
During a meeting at the Ministry of Agrarian Policy with representatives of the Eastern African Grain Council, Kenyan agrarian businesses, and Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Vitaliy Holovnev, there was expressed interest in enhancing cooperation with Ukrainian agrarian businesses, associations, and governmental bodies, as well as in procuring Ukrainian grain.
The ministry stated, “The guests conveyed their gratitude for the assistance provided under the Grain from Ukraine initiative, where Ukraine played a significant role in supporting Kenya’s food security.”
