A network of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in Nigeria, including the Coalition of Ethnic Nationalities’ Rights Agenda, the South-East Revival Coalition, and Progressive Yoruba Youth for Change, has commended Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, for his efforts and transparency in distributing food, fertilizers, and other farming inputs across the country.
The commendation was given during a joint media briefing in Abuja on Thursday, addressed by Mallam Yusuf Khalifa, National Coordinator of the Coalition of Ethnic Nationalities’ Rights Agenda; Dr. Eberechi Okonkwo, Convener of the South-East Revival Coalition; and Comrade Olajide Olumide Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of Progressive Yoruba Youth for Change.
The Minister has established a reputation for integrity and transparency, with unprecedented fairness in the distribution of agricultural resources. Senator Kyari’s commitment to enhancing food security and nutrition in Nigeria has been demonstrated through his prioritization of equity and fairness.
“We salute his sense of nationalism. His fair distribution of farming inputs has laid a strong foundation for a prosperous and sustainable agricultural sector. Kyari’s tireless efforts to revolutionize the agricultural sector and ensure Nigeria’s self-sufficiency in food production are commendable. His leadership has eliminated marginalization in the distribution of agricultural resources, fostering peace and harmony on farms nationwide.
We applaud Senator Kyari for championing the empowerment of Nigerian farmers, especially those in rural areas who previously lacked access to government-distributed supplies. His unwavering support for women and youth in agriculture has led to increased distribution of resources to female and young farmers this year.
This network of community-based organizations urges beneficiaries, particularly in rural communities, to use the supplies judiciously. The government has prioritized agriculture as a key driver of Nigeria’s economic growth, and farmers must support these efforts by leveraging its policies, programs, and interventions. We urge the Minister to sustain his visionary leadership, effective resource utilization, and strategic initiatives, which have significantly progressed the agricultural sector.
“We remain committed to working alongside the Minister to strengthen the agricultural sector and achieve a prosperous, food-secure, and environmentally sustainable Nigeria.”
