Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, announced on Monday that the General Hospital Talata Marafa will undergo comprehensive renovation instead of the earlier plan to upgrade the College of Agriculture and Animal Science Bakura to the College of Agriculture and Technology.
Lawal stated, “Recognizing the need for technological advancements in education, we’ve redirected efforts towards modernizing the General Hospital Talata Marafa, shifting from the initial plan of upgrading the college.”
The Governor, accompanied by former Governor Senator Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura, inaugurated the renovated facilities at the College of Agriculture and Technology Bakura, as part of activities marking the Lawal administration’s first anniversary.
During the ceremony, Lawal emphasized the government’s focus on education and agriculture, highlighting the renovation and upgrading of the college. He also commissioned projects in Bakura and Maradun Local Government Areas, stressing the urgent need to address the deteriorating state of the General Hospital Talata Marafa.
Expressing dismay at the hospital’s condition, Lawal pledged immediate renovation and upgrade to ensure efficient healthcare delivery in the area, echoing his commitment to prioritize essential infrastructure over less critical matters.
In Maradun Local Government Area, Lawal inspected the progress of renovation work at the General Hospital Maradun, emphasizing the comprehensive nature of the project, including infrastructure, equipment, and furnishing.
