The Federal Government of Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have pledged to enhance their bilateral relations, focusing on agriculture, trade, and economic opportunities.
This commitment was reiterated during a meeting between a Saudi Arabian delegation, led by Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Alfadley, and Nigerian officials in Abuja on Thursday.
The Nigerian delegation, headed by Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, and Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Bagudu, underscored the strategic importance of harnessing opportunities discussed between President Bola Tinubu and the Saudi Crown Prince.
Utsev emphasized the significance of water resources for irrigated agriculture, affirming Nigeria’s willingness to provide necessary support to bolster food production. He expressed optimism that the partnership would also yield benefits in sanitation and hygiene sectors for Nigeria.
Abdulrazaq emphasized that Nigerian governors are prepared to allocate land for agricultural use, highlighting the opportunities for both domestic consumption and export.
Bagudu, in his statement, emphasized the mutual benefits of the partnership for economic development and job creation in both countries.
Alfadley echoed the commitment to bolstering bilateral ties, with a focus on leveraging areas of comparative advantage such as agriculture, investment, and job creation.
