Governor Alia of Benue State announced plans to award contracts for constructing 50 roads within the next 12 months. This initiative aims to enhance transportation and boost the agricultural economy by improving movement and produce accessibility. The Governor also shared updates on ongoing projects, including the completion of two underpasses in Makurdi and Gboko, and the 90% progress on 16 roads in Makurdi, Zone A, and the State Secretariat and Assembly renovation.
In addition to the infrastructure developments, Governor Alia emphasized the administration’s commitment to addressing postharvest losses, ensuring farmers can enjoy the financial benefits of their hard work. He highlighted the significance of agriculture not only as a way of life but also as a vital source of livelihood for the citizens, encouraging everyone to actively participate in it.
Furthermore, the governor shared that a security outfit comprising 10,000 personnel would be unveiled in the coming weeks to enhance safety within the state. He also mentioned the reintroduction of the long-abandoned students’ scholarship program, which is set to commence in May.
Lastly, Governor Alia informed the APC stakeholders about the reconciliation between himself and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, facilitated by Tiv Traditional Rulers.
