The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has unveiled plans to reopen nursing schools in the state, prioritizing safer medical practices and fostering agricultural development. Enhanced agricultural activities will include providing micro and small grants to farmers.
Governor Alia made these announcements during a thanksgiving service held in his honor by the Jechira intermediate area “Ityo i Jeichira” at St. Gabriel’s Parish, Iorkighir Tse-Agberagba, in Konshisha LGA of Benue.
He stated, “The nursing schools will be upgraded to degree and higher institutional levels to enhance knowledge acquisition.” Additionally, he highlighted the reestablishment and modernization of Community Health Organizations to bolster hospital support for swift medical services. The government aims to ensure affordability and accessibility of these institutions for qualified citizens.
Expressing concern over the inadequate health facilities in the state leading to avoidable deaths, Governor Alia called for global health donors to collaborate with the Benue state government in revitalizing the health sector.
He encouraged women in Small Scale Businesses and farmers to register with or establish cooperatives to benefit from government schemes, ultimately tackling food insecurity.
Governor Hyacinth Alia pledged support for Jeichira youths through sponsorship in various technology training programs, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to advancing science and technology.
In addressing security challenges, Governor Alia reiterated his administration’s dedication to ensuring peace and security, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities to safeguard their communities.
