Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced that the state’s Agro-Cargo International Airport is set to commence scheduled and non-scheduled flights within the coming weeks. He made this announcement yesterday during his address at the 13th Gateway International Trade Fair breakfast meeting, which brought together chief executive officers, captains of industry, entrepreneurs, investors, and stakeholders. The event took place at the Mitros Residences in GRA, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Governor Abiodun stated that the approval process for operationalizing the airport has progressed significantly, with final approval anticipated within a few days.
He announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had given approval for the Special Agro Processing Zone to be designated as a Free Trade Zone.
He stated, “Our newly constructed Gateway International Airport is set for inauguration soon. In fact, I expect that this week, the airport will receive approval to commence non-scheduled flights, allowing private planes to use the airport just like any other. Additionally, I anticipate that within the next two weeks or less, we will obtain approval for scheduled flights to operate from the airport.”
Oyebanji extends sympathy to rainstorm victims
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji expressed empathy towards victims of a recent rainstorm that caused property damage in Omu-Ekiti and Ijelu-Ekiti, neighboring communities in Oye Local Government. Represented by his deputy, Mrs. Monisade Afuye, he visited the affected areas yesterday to assess the extent of the damage. The governor assured residents that the state government would take measures to alleviate their suffering, expressing sorrow over the displacement of hundreds of residents due to the destructive effects of the rainstorm on Sunday.
