Sunday Marshall Katung, Esq., the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has disclosed that a consortium of investors from the United States of America intends to invest $6 million in agriculture in Southern Kaduna. He also stated that upon their arrival, the investors will provide training for local farmers on utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in farming practices.
Addressing the National Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS) at Kaduna State University’s Kafanchan campus to commemorate the 2024 National Agricultural Day, he emphasized once more that agriculture holds the key to Nigeria’s future.
Marshall Katung conveyed, “I took the opportunity to apprise our constituents in Kaduna South that a consortium of investors from the United States of America plans to invest $6 million in Southern Kaduna’s agricultural sector.”
Upon their arrival, the investors will provide training for our farmers on utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in farming practices. In light of this, I encouraged our community to ready themselves for the significant agricultural revolution ahead.
In Southern Kaduna, there are vast untapped opportunities in pig farming, ranching, fisheries, and processing for export purposes. Our youth should cultivate an interest in these sectors and seek partnerships to flourish,” he stated.
He also highlighted that Southern Kaduna is now a secure zone for investment and urged investors worldwide to consider investing in the region.
Our land and our people stand ready to embrace investment in all sectors. Consequently, I implore our community to brace themselves for the significant agricultural revolution ahead.
Furthermore, he advised the youth that Nigeria’s future lies in agriculture, emphasizing the necessity for government at all levels, entrepreneurs, and business leaders to heavily invest in mechanized agriculture. This is essential as full mechanization is crucial for ensuring productivity in farming.
I express gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our esteemed colleague, Gen. Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, and the Kaduna State Government for their efforts in enhancing the security situation in our region and the nation as a whole. With a continued crackdown on criminals and criminal activities, we can confidently anticipate rapid growth and success for our youth in agriculture.
The Senator reiterated that Nigeria’s future hinges on ensuring food security and maximizing the potential of the agricultural sector. We must return to an era where everyone participates in production, be it for subsistence or commercial reasons. It’s imperative to uncover the employment and wealth creation opportunities within agriculture.
