The Jigawa State Government has revealed intentions to harness Ethiopia’s agricultural expertise to enhance wheat cultivation within the state.
Governor Umar Namadi has embarked on a visit to Ethiopia to explore the methodologies that have positioned the East African nation as a significant contributor to wheat production on the continent.
According to a statement by Hajiya Zainab Rabo Ringim, the Senior Special Assistant on Media Affairs to the Governor, Governor Namadi is accompanied by agricultural experts and advisors closely associated with the sector on this trip.
Rabo Ringim expressed that the initiative to enhance wheat cultivation in the state stems from Governor Umar Namadi’s administration’s aspiration to solidify the state’s position as the leading producer of wheat in the country.
She elaborated that during their visit to the East African nation, the governor and his team would investigate innovative agricultural methods to revitalize the sector in Jigawa State.
Hajiya Rabo Ringim highlighted that the governor and his delegation would specifically examine Ethiopia’s National Wheat Production Initiative and participate in knowledge-sharing sessions to advance wheat farming in the state.
“Of particular interest are Ethiopia’s rain-fed and irrigated wheat production fields, which have secured its top rank in Africa. We aim to adapt and implement these lessons within the state,” she remarked.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media Affairs emphasized that the study tour aligns with Governor Namadi’s administration’s commitment to enhancing food security and creating employment opportunities within the state and beyond.
