At least ten individuals, including a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps volunteer, tragically lost their lives while attempting to obtain food supplies in Sokoto.
The regrettable occurrence reportedly claimed the life of Fatima Bala, a volunteer operative with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, along with nine other individuals in a stampede at the residence of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, a former governor of the state turned senator. The stampede allegedly transpired during a sallah palliative distribution at the Gawon Nama residence.
Although the incident occurred on Thursday night, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the NSDSC has confirmed or denied it as of the time of press.
Expressing frustration over the silence surrounding the incident, the Peoples Democratic Party has demanded an immediate investigation into the tragic event.
