The government of Ogun State has restated its dedication to forging robust collaborations with agricultural investors, both domestic and international, aimed at expediting the advancement and prosperity of the agricultural industry.
Hon. Bolu Owotomo, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, reiterated this position during a visit to Harvest Feed & Agro-Processing Limited situated in Ajura, Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area.
Owotomo stressed the administration’s firm determination to attract investments that would propel the state’s economy forward. He outlined their strategy to achieve this, which involves facilitating easier access to land and establishing a conducive environment for agricultural ventures.
He encouraged investors to contribute to capacity building initiatives and to provide support to small-scale farmers, ensuring they receive fair and timely compensation for their agricultural produce.
Owotomo also urged the establishment to leverage its proximity to a gas plant to address challenges associated with power shortages.
During the visit, Owotomo praised Mr. Goke Adeyemi, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Harvest Feed & Agro-Processing Limited, for his significant contributions to the advancement of the cassava value chain within the state and nationwide.
He suggested that Adeyemi consider expanding his business operations to create more job opportunities for the youth of Ogun State.
In response, Mr. Adeyemi expressed gratitude for the notable improvements in the agricultural sector under the current administration.
He highlighted the positive outcomes of the partnership with the state government on his company and appealed for additional land to fulfill his goal of cultivating an additional 2,000 hectares.
This interaction underscores the mutual dedication between the government and private sector entities to drive agricultural development and economic progress in Ogun State.
