To address issues such as post-harvest losses, inflation, carbon emissions, and traffic congestion, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, unveiled a newly constructed mid-level food agro-hub in the Mushin area of the state, specifically located at Idi-Oro. This initiative, built by the Lagos State Government and commissioned by the Governor, marks the beginning of a modernized approach to food distribution in Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the unveiling of this food hub is just the start, as plans are underway to establish similar hubs in three additional locations: Ajah, Abule Ado, and Agege. This strategic move aims to tackle various challenges associated with the food supply chain, including post-harvest losses, rising prices, environmental impact, and traffic congestion.
According to statements released to the press, the newly inaugurated food hub covers an area of 6400 square meters and includes ample parking space spanning 3,017 square meters to accommodate trailers and vehicles. Additionally, the hub features centralized wet and dry storage facilities to facilitate bulk purchasing and storage.
